Journalist Shankar Vedantam explains the concept of the "illusion of continuity"—the belief that our future selves will share the same views as our current selves—and shows how we can more proactively craft the person we want to become.
It's so easy to imagine ourselves as the same person decades from now—but it's just not true! We are constantly changing and growing, and those changes don't always make sense or feel good at first. But if we can recognize these changes for what they are, then maybe we can find ways to embrace them instead of resist them.
