The One Skill That’s More Valuable Than Intelligence Today
And why your taste might be the sharpest tool you have in a world drowning in content.
Imagine this: you’re at an endless buffet.
Every few seconds, someone brings out another tray and insists, “You have to try this!” or “Everyone’s eating this right now!” or the ever-reliable “This one’s life-changing!”
It’s exhausting. And let’s be honest, most of it isn’t that good.
That, to me, is what the internet often feels like.
This week, I read an article that’s called “Taste Is the New Intelligence” by Stepfanie Tyler, and it captures something I’ve been quietly thinking about for a while:
In a world overflowing with content, real intelligence might just lie in what you choose not to consume.
The author argues that taste isn’t a surface-level thing anymore.
It’s a skill. A filter. A way to navigate a noisy world without losing your mind.
People like Rick Rubin are held up as examples, not because they know everything, but because they know what matters.
In a way, this is why I do this weekly newsletter.
Not to tell you what to think.
Not to flood your inbox with more noise.
But to curate the signal.
To say: “Hey, I read a hundred things this week. Here’s the one that actually made me stop scrolling and start thinking.”
This article is a bit longer than usual, but I think you’ll find it worth the read.
Let me know what you think and how you’re shaping your own sense of taste.

That’s it for this week.
