Bold Shift: 12 Ideas Rewiring 2026
From AI’s real-world impact to a renewed focus on craft and clarity.
This week’s pick is Scott Belsky’s “12 Outlooks for 2026.”
AI is handing us a giant, slightly intimidating Swiss Army Knife.
The people who learn to flip out the right tools fast and still care about how the final thing looks and feels will win.
The big idea: early adopters move faster, craft matters more, and smarter systems cut waste.
My quick take:
Speed vs. Taste: Speed is the caffeine; taste is the sleep. If you only drink the caffeine, you just make more stuff, faster… that no one wants. The winners will sprint, then pause long enough to ask, “Is this actually good?”
Craft Matters More: We’re entering the Great Content Glut. When everything can be generated, the scarce resource becomes judgment. Editing, taste, and the courage to delete are the new superpowers. Your moat isn’t more output; it’s better output.
Smarter Systems, Dumber Habits: Tools can cut waste, but only if we stop worshiping our old rituals. Tools aren’t the problem. Letting go of the weekly status doc is. Cut the dead weight, then automate.
My plan for the year: let AI do the messy first drafts and the repetitive workflows, then pour my energy into clarity, voice, and decisions. If the tools buy us time, I want to spend mine on thinking better and crafting tighter.
