A Note to My Boss, If I Could Really Send It- Issue # 72
Workplace Wishes: The Things We'd Like to Say but Often Don't
Hey,
Today, I've got something really special for you. It's a tool that could completely change the way you see the world. It's a thrilling extra in this week's newsletter and you'll find it tucked away at the very end of this edition. Get ready for a perspective shift!
Now lets get into this week’s topic:
Have you ever wanted to tell your boss exactly what's on your mind?
This week, I wrote a pretend letter to a pretend boss about things many of us face at work. It's just for fun, but maybe it will make you think too.
This isn't me complaining, it's about looking at the funny side of work life and maybe making it a little better.
Whether you work for someone else, or you're the boss yourself, I hope you find something in it for you.
Here's, "A Note to My Boss, If I Could Really Send It."
Dear Boss,
In the busy world of corporate life, we often take on many roles and responsibilities. But if there's one thing that truly frustrates us, it's meetings that aren't needed. There's something strangely amusing about a room full of people trying not to look bored. We all value our time and let's be real, is it necessary for everyone to talk about the slightly off taste of the office coffee? If only meetings were more like exclusive parties, where only the most important people are on the guest list.
Ah, speaking of parties, have you ever noticed how there's always one person who just can't stop talking? Well, here's the thing Boss, there's a fine line between dialogue and monologue. We do appreciate your words of wisdom, but it would also be nice if, every once in a while, you'd use your two ears more than your one mouth. Let the echo of other voices chime in the corridor of discussions.
Oh, and Boss, about your jokes... We laugh, we chuckle, but let's not pretend that it's because your sense of humor is contagious. Perhaps it's more because of the contagious effect your decisions have on our annual raises. Nothing like a good boss joke to remind us of that!
Now, let's talk about our team's achievements. Or rather, let's talk about YOUR team's achievements. You see, it's a team effort. When we bask in the glory of a successful project, it's important to remember that the limelight is big enough for all of us. Acknowledging others' contributions doesn't dim your shine; it just makes the whole team glow brighter.
Finally, remember how we always save the best for the last? Well, this one is about the sacred sanctity of after-office hours. Imagine if Friday nights were really Friday nights and weekends were truly weekends, free from the clutches of impromptu work calls and last-minute discussions. That's not just a vision, boss, that's a dream for many of us.
So, that's it boss. Think of this as friendly advice from your team. We're all trying to make our workplace the best it can be. And we believe you can help us do that.
Just Telling It Like It Is,
Manoj
Now for the bonus:
Here’s a tool developed by the World Inequality Database that shows your position on the income or wealth spectrum. It's useful for understanding where you stand financially, especially if you're earning income or financially dependent. I found it in the Ken's weekly newsletter. Take a look and let me know your thoughts.
Have a great Sunday
Manoj
